OMF Heroes is on

I haven't written for a while. Life got busy. I'm in the midst of midterms, which sucks. You know what also sucks? Missing a chunk of your big toe.

After my Women's Studies lecture this morning, I was walking up some concrete steps, beginning my trek from campus to the Capitol. While going up the steps, I tripped. I almost caught myself, but end up falling, catching my upper body by jamming the palms of my hands into an upper step. Unfortunately, my right big toe somehow jammed into a concrete step, am hurt like hell. A guy walking next to me asked me if I was okay a couple of times, and embarrassed, I brushed him off, saying, "Yeah, yeah, I'm good, thanks." I was wearing brand new black tights at the time, which now had a hole in them. The toe-line of the tights was digging into the wound, so I made the hole a bit bigger, and examined the damage. The knuckle of the toe was scraped (like, a few layers of skin were gone), and a corner of the toenail was missing. I don't know where the missing part of the toenail went, but before it left, I think it was responsible for cutting off a few layers of the corner of my toe. Naturally, I was upset, and had to limp all the way to work. Of course, today was the day Senate was in session for the first time in months, and I couldn't get my dress-shoe on my right food without experiencing horrible pain. So, I got to work the gallery the entire time I was there, so that a minimal amount of people could see my Adidas sandal.

WTF. I felt like crying in a "Why me?!" way because it seems like every freaking time I try to buy something nice for myself, it ends up going horribly, horribly wrong within a day. My tights have a hole in them now, and while I'm sure that I can wash the blood out, there is still a hole in them less than 24 hours after purchasing them. I was so excited about them, too. :(

Also, cleaning the wound is excruciatingly painful, and I'm going to have to wear band-aids to bed, because I can't stand the thought of my bed-sheet touching the open wounds.

Stupid steps! I thought that I was being smart by putting my close-toed dressy shoes that give my heels blisters in my backpack and wearing sandals, but oh no! I wasn't.

There has to be something else to talk about than my wounded toe.

I know! TV.

Last Thursday's episode of The Office was the first hour-long episode this season that didn't feel like it was dragging, so that was good.

Spoilers for Grey's, The Office, Heroes, and Avatar

What else. Friday was "Ratatouille" with Steph and Antoine, and Saturday was Anime Club and a party for my friend Isa, who was visiting from Missouri.

So, that party was why I couldn't attend the fan party that was this weekend. And midterms are why I can't do anything now. The end.

I'm listeing to today's Conference Committee on WisconsinEye....I'm such a nerd, :)

Firstly, The New York Times has finally written about the Jena 6. (If you don't have an account with the New York Times, you can get one for free with a .edu email address) If you have not been informed about the Jena 6 case, you definitely should read about it. It's hard to believe that stuff like this still happens. Racism sucks. :(

I would apologize for not blogging for a few days, but I actually posted a Friends-locked post on my LJ between this post and my last public post. Too bad you blog-readers can't read it! You should all get LiveJournals, and then you can see the entries where the real shit goes down, :) Really, though I don't like to get too detailed about work or school in public places on the interwebs.

I gave a presentation today in a class! Hopefully it didn't suck. It was the first major assignment that I've had due so far. I'm going home to see my family next weekend, and for this I am excited. It's been a while since I've actually been home - there was the Family Reunion, but that was a bit south of home, and my family came here to Madison to visit me one weekend, but I think that I haven't actually been home since July? Wow, has it really been that long? Needless to say, I'm excited. I might even be able to ask off of work and go home Thursday night....although it would be a complete and utter betrayal not to stay and watch the season premiere of The Office first.

The season premiere of Avatar: The Last Airbender is tomorrow, and I'm pretty excited. Oooh! Maybe when I'm home next week, I can watch it with Dylan! (6-year-old nephew) When did I become such a TV-consumer? I'm excited for Avatar, Heroes, The Office, Grey's Anatomy, and I would be for Battlestar Galactica if it was coming back before JANUARY. I also kind of want to check out The Bionic Woman (Katee Sackhoff is in it!) and Private Practice, the Grey's Anatomy spin-off.

Anyway. Time for bed.

Divine Justice

I consider myself to be a religious person, although I don't really bring my faith up very often in conversation (although, once some people find out that I'm Catholic, they assume that I agree with every single tenet of Catholicism, and will grill me about why the Church believes what it believes). Still, I don't really believe in divine providence. I don't believe God is controlling all of us with puppet strings, breaking our hearts to "teach us lessons," and making sure that "there is always a way."

But I still laugh when divine justice happens. I've decided that having celebrity gossip pervade the media is totally okay when the celebrities are getting owned.

  • Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington (Dr. Preston Burke) has been kicked off the show for anti-gay remarks made against T.R. Knight (George O'Malley). The best part of the story (which is now often left out) is that Patrick Dempsey (McDreamy, Dr. Derek Shepherd) told him to 'fuck off' when it happened. I really love that Katherine Heigl (Izzie Stevens, my favorite) stuck up for Knight in public. DIVINE JUSTICE: People who are homophobic and are mean to their co-workers lose their jobs. YES.
LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Screaming and crying, Paris Hilton was escorted out of a courtroom and back to jail Friday after a judge ruled that she must serve out her entire 45-day sentence behind bars rather than in her Hollywood Hills home.

"It's not right!" shouted the weeping Hilton, who violated her probation in a reckless driving case. "Mom!" she called out to her mother in the audience.

Hilton, who was brought to court in handcuffs in a sheriff's car, came into the courtroom disheveled and weeping, hair askew, sans makeup, wearing a gray fuzzy sweatshirt over slacks.

She cried throughout the hearing, her body shook constantly and she dabbed at her eyes. Several times she turned to her parents, seated behind her in the courtroom, and mouthed, "I love you."

I just don't understand how can anybody could say "it isn't right" for them to pay for breaking the law. Like, me personally, I was upset with myself for getting a speeding ticket, but I'm not about to say that it isn't fair or undeserved. I was speeding. I got caught. The end. Things that "aren't right" would include, I don't know, children starving to death and innocent people being murdered.

Please, God, let this happen in Wisconsin while I'm working.

Anyway, last night was fun. After work, we went out to a couple of bars because one of my bosses will have his last day sometime next week, and then leave for Afghanistan for a year. I love my co-workers. One of the coolest, most fun group of people I've had the pleasure of spending time with. Even if they make fun of my self-purported claim, in a high-pitched voice, "But I am badass."

DEAR WORLD

I believe that this is my first blog post written under the influence. So pay attention. (I turned 21 today! So it's okay!)

I know I was in a weird mood yesterday and partly this morning, but today has been good.

I spent the morning catching up through the season finale of Grey's Anatomy. Can I just say? KIND OF A DOWNER. Although, really, I liked it. The writers burned everything to the ground and it was fun to watch, is a little masochistic.

Today, Antoine had his commencement ceremony and received his master's degree. We spent the afternoon and evening hanging out with his parents. We ate some East African cuisine on State Street, and eventually said goodbye.

I had a Jaeger Bomb and a beer (spotted cow) at a nearby bar with Antoine, Chad, Chad's sister Amber, and her friend Kim. The Jaeger Bomb was sweet. I need to find a badass drink to like. Rum, whiskey, and gin have always sounded badass to me. I should try them. :D So yes, I did drink on my 21st birthday. I'm not too inebriated, although Chad said that my words were slurring a bit. My motor skills are a bit off....I go to brush my hair behind my ear and I punch my cheek instead. Also, I'm making lots of typing mistakes. But other than that!

Anyway, time for water and then for bed. I hope I eventually get around to writing this sci-fi paper due Tuesday morning. At least I have it all mapped out. It was a good actual birthday day, but it'll be even better tomorrow when I see old friends and hang out and be awesome.

Oh yeah, it's my birthday. Thank you to all of you for phone calls and Facebook messages with happy birthdays. I will reply at some point....probably after 9am Tuesday! (When my paper is due)

I think drinking makes me really sleepy. Time for bed.

annnnnd sleeping.

Thanks to Ryan, Chad, and Kristen for reading my Anne Frank paper for me! And to Gretchen and Kristen: Possibly I'll be emailing you guys my feminist sci-fi paper on Thursday or something? Life is kind of omgwtf right now.

I've been awake for a long time now, so I think I should follow boyfriend Antoine's advice and go to sleep soon. Antoine is such a good boyfriend! Or, at least, he is very understanding of finals time and my whiny-ness. Although, I whine a lot outside of finals too, so I guess that he has practice. Poor Antoine. Let us pity him for all that he puts up with.

My Shakespeare final was this morning at 7:45am, so I have now reached the point at which I am finished with more classes than I am not (3:2). And I'll be done with another one tomorrow night whether I'm ready or not: my 19th Century Scandinavian Writers final is due tomorrow at midnight. Sooooo I should hurry up and write so that I can wake up and write all morning before work.

During finals week, you get linkspam. It's just the way it is.

Speaking of work! Wisconsin Eye, Wisconsin's own version of C-SPAN is premiering this week. Watch your state senators at work! More importantly, watch me in the background! The Senate is in session tomorrow, so I think I might end up being recorded at some point. I usually sit between the Majority and Minority Leaders when we're all in the chambers, so I'll probably get on. In typical OMG LOOK AT ME!!!11eleventy fashion, I'm sure I'll give you all a link and tell you at which place you should drag your mouse to. For now, you can watch today's Joint Finance Committee session.

The Grey's Anatomy spin-off is apparently a go. I haven't had time to catch up for the last couple weeks, so I have yet to see what counted as Addison's "pilot," episode, but if they made her into some doll falling into men's arms and lost without a sexual partner instead of the strong, independent woman she is on Grey's, so help me God.....

Ann Althouse, UW Law professor and writer of the only political blog I regularly read, has made a post about the new Sundance theater that has recently opened up in Madison. I found the Zen garden to be the most hilarious.

Tanja has a 3-page comic on how not to be an ass when someone tells you that they are in an open relationship.

Neil Gaiman posts pictures from Alan Moore's wedding in his blog. OMG HIS BOWLER HAT IS SO BADASS!

Lastly....you didn't think I wouldn't make at least some comment about this, did you? Jerry Falwell is dead. Supposedly, it's bad to speak ill of the dead. So, I won't. Instead, here is my tribute to Jerry Falwell and his politics, in his own words:
"AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals."
"It appears that America's anti-Biblical feminist movement is at last dying, thank God, and is possibly being replaced by a Christ-centered men's movement which may become the foundation for a desperately needed national spiritual awakening."
"Grown men should not be having sex with prostitutes unless they are married to them."
"If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being."
"The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country."

Oh Yoshimi, they don't believe me / but you won't let these robots eat me

YES.
I finally watched last week's episode of Grey's Anatomy. I won't spoil it! Really. Seriously. BUT - can I just say this? I was squealing for about the last 5 minutes straight. Somebody who's seen it, please call me so we can freak out together!

Umbrellas
Let me preface this story by saying that my mom is very obsessive over Elvis Presley. I don't know why. No one knows why. She just is, and always has been.

So, I had an umbrella. And then last semester, when Antoine, Chad, Kristy, and I went to Chicago for the weekend, it rained. And I didn't have an umbrella. So I bought one. Somehow, it got lost on the way home. And once I was back home, I couldn't find my original umbrella either. It was irritating, but I was so irritated that I refused to buy a new one (again).

A couple of weeks ago, Louise handed an umbrella to me (which was not either of the two previously mentioned umbrellas) and said, "My brother found this in our car. And it's not ours, and it's not any of his friends'. So it must be yours." I looked at the umbrella and didn't recognize it in the slightest, but took it anyway. Hey - I had lost two umbrellas, and I felt entitled to one that nobody else was going to claim anyway.

At least, I thought it wasn't mine until this morning when it was raining and I had to use it. I walked out of the house, quickly locking the door behind me and readying to bolt across the street to stand at the bus stop. I pop open the umbrella, being excited that I just press a button and it opens up all the way by itself (no pinching fingers pushing it up myself!). And then I look up. And see two huge Elvis Presley faces, and two full-bodied grabbing-the-microphone-Elvises. (Elvii? I don't know) The girl at the bus stop was polite and didn't stare. But once I stepped off the bus, I giggled the whole walk up the hill to class. Many people did double-takes, but nobody laughed outright. (I know a lot of you go to small colleges and that seems exaggerated, but if you're unfamiliar, Madison is a huge school and I probably walk by/past 200 people between the bus stop and the building my class is in)

At least I have one now, right? Also, I don't feel bad taking it from Louise anymore, because I know that it definitely came from my family.

Your Weird News of the Day
Okay. So. Aaron Sorkin (writer behind "The American President," and TV series Sports Night, The West Wing, and Studio 60) is writing a Broadway musical. The premise? The album "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" by The Flaming Lips. The Flaming Lips. And Aaron Sorkin.
As described by Wayne Coyne, There's the real world and then there's this fantastical world. This girl, the Yoshimi character, is dying of something. And these two guys are battling to come visit her in the hospital. And as one of the boyfriends envisions trying to save the girl, he enters this other dimension where Yoshimi is this Japanese warrior and the pink robots are an incarnation of her disease. It's almost like the disease has to win in order for her soul to survive. Or something like that.

Seriously. It sounds like a Japanese anime plot. And as you all know, I'm all about Japanese anime. But. Aaron Sorkin? I think my brain broke. HOWEVER, it does have the potential to be The Best Thing Ever.

And Lastly...
Pirates of the Caribbean III trailer!! OMF, it looks so good! I think I've always felt kind of "meh" about the first movie, but the second one blew me out of the water. And this last one? Looks very pwn.

Mostly relating to television

I feel pretty tired, even though I didn't do much today. Well, that's not true. I did things; I just didn't do homework. Or put away my clean laundry. Or clean my room. But I watched Hamlet, bought clothing that was on sale at ShopKo, bought groceries, caught up on TV shows, cooked things, and read some Shakespeare. Which I guess is a full day.

I keep looking at the SCA website, and then convincing myself that it's definitely something I don't have time to get involved in, at least not now. Maybe summer. MAYBE. *is resistant to own desires*

I don't have much else to say, and I watched lots of TV today, so I'll talk about that.

Tonight's Battlestar was meh. I really hate when the show has to do filler episodes, and I'm glad that next season, we'll be getting 1 movie and then just 13 episodes. Things will work out a lot better, I think. I liked this episode more than I usually like filler episodes - probably 'cause we haven't seen a whole lot of actual characterization in Helo. This episode fell together way too perfectly at the end, and the not-believing-others didn't really make much sense. But I guess that's what happens with filler episodes. Like Black Market (Oh God! *shudders*).

I was sort of disappointed with The Office (Phyllis' Wedding). Everyone had hyped it up, and then it was kind of meh. There were great moments, such as Ryan swatting the thrown bouquet away from Kelly, Pam realizing Phyllis stole everything from her own wedding plans, and Jim waving his cell phone at his girlfriend's mock-concert. But other than that....

Grey's was surprisingly good, but probably mostly because I think Shonda Rhimes actually wrote this episode. I liked the opening scene, and how Derek is Meredith's "knight in shining.....whatever." I thought the little girl was lame, although it'll be cool if she turns out to be Izzie's daughter (doubtful.....she's a heavy-handed metaphor in case we missed the fact that Meredith is LOST and MOTHERLESS). Speaking of Meredith - I really loved the episode from the episode in which her mother was lucid for a day and she flipped out at her at the end. Usually, I can't really stand the character's constant whining and etc., but in that moment the pain was real.
Favorite character is still Izzie, although she didn't get to do much in this episode (except tell George to move back in! Aww!). I did love her line at the beginning, though. "Hey. I ate everything in the fridge last night. Everything. Including the tub of butter. There's no judgment here."

i can only give you everything i've got

I feel pretty amazing right now. This week has been pretty crazy in terms of changes, but I think it's all for the better. Firstly, I'll start with myself - I got the job that I interviewed for on Friday. I'm now a member of the Senate messenger staff. It's kind of an everything-job - they respond to needs of the Senate and their staffs, so I'll be staffing committee meetings and debates on the floor. Additionally, members of the staff get paid an hourly wage for their work. I'm pretty elated about it, although that's probably about all that I'll write about in a public blog on the Internet. Anyone could be reading, and etc. I don't even know why I was so hell-bent on getting it. I haven't a job for any of the previous 5 semesters that I've been in college. I guess that once I fix my mind on attaining some sort of status, I don't feel satisfied until I get there. So now, 3 days a week, I'll be working at the state Capitol! Chad laughed at me because 2 days of the week, I have to be there at 8:00am. I think it's worth it. Unlike class, which I don't get paid to get up early for, there will now be monetary incentives, :)

What else changed? Antoine has quit grad school due to being unsatisfied. According to him, he should be getting a Master's Degree in May. Right now he's busy applying for jobs, so it's a bit of a transition period.
Chad got accepted to one of the law schools he applied to and received a scholarship, so though he doesn't know where he's going yet, he'll be going somewhere. I was pissed at him because his good news kind of outshone mine, hehe.

What else? Last night, there was a huge multi-player game of Civilizations IV: Warlords on Chad's computer, with Antoine, Chad, Louise, her boyfriend Patrick, and me all playing. It was pretty awesome. Now it's Saturday and I'm getting ready to spend the evening at Anime Club, and after that either going to a party or coming back here for some more Civ. Gretchen and I are watching the Mel Gibson version of Hamlet tomorrow morning, and then I'll have the rest of the day to work on my homework (reading! Lots!).
I'm a bit apprehensive for Anime Club because some marketing research grad students contacted me via email and want to meet with me an hour before Club to "learn more about anime." They didn't explain why they needed to, so I'm not quite sure what to expect. Luckily, friends of mine will be there with me anyway, so if they're kind of weird, I won't die.

Wahhhh, I haven't had time yet to catch up on The Office or Grey's Anatomy (although Grey's was streaming on a computer at the Cardinal office this week, so I watched the first/last 5 minutes and know what happens.....to Meredith anyway, :O)! Hopefully I can do that tomorrow because I'm dying to see Phyllis' wedding and the bombing Grey's. Grey's has been growing more disappointing with time - I like *watching* the characters most of the time, but it seems like the only one I feel particularly attached to is Izzie. I was upset with the marriage storylines, but it's TV, so I shouldn't care too much.

Oh! And my first book came through BookMooch, so that's cool (except I don't have any time to read it). No one seems to be biting at the rest of my inventory, though. I hope someone does eventually. I need to get rid of lots of books!

Yeeeahhhh....li'l hyper over here, :)

I have been in such a good mood since Friday, I can't even believe it!

CAN I PLEASE TELL YOU HOW GREAT THINGS ARE RIGHT NOW?

Yes? Okay! After lots of freaking out about my Political Science paper, it got turned in via e-mail Friday before 5:00. Wow, that paper would have been a lot less intense if I had written a paper involving math in tables since....what, Physics senior year of high school?! HEINOUS. I was pretty proud of myself for still being able to calculate things and figure out the best way to calculate national averages based on Senate exit polls.

So what did I do, once the Week from Hell was over with? I went and got Chinese take-out with Antoine and Chad. Chad definitely needed to be repaid, for the 800 times I made him look over my paper, and also for making me lunch on Friday because I didn't have time to do it myself. Then, I spent the evening just spending time with Antoine, and it was nice. Can I tell you how awesome it is to just talk to somebody for hours, lying in the dark? Having a boyfriend rocks!

What did I do on Saturday? I'LL TELL YOU. I watched last week's Studio 60*. I watched most of last week's episode of The Office (JIM, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!), I watched last week's Battlestar Galactica (WHAT A COP-OUT! LAAAAAAME!), and then I watched last week's Grey's Anatomy**. Then, there was Anime Club, which was pleasant enough. In between series, some people and I went for Real Chili and to peruse Avol's. I got White Noise, which I've been meaning to read for some time now. Once I catch up on all of the English readings I'm behind on, and the stack of ghost stories next to my dresser, and the books I've borrowed from Creighton, :D

Antoine and Creighton got up at like, 5:00 this morning to go and purchase Nintendo Wiis. Antoine called me around 9:30 to inform me that he is now the proud owner of a Wii! I think he's going to bring it with us when we go to my house for Thanksgiving, and I'm sure my brother-in-law, and at the very least, my friend Dave, will be very happy because of this.

Today will be very nice. I'm going to read Shakespeare, some more Huck Finn (which is so much better this time around, and I think may be winning me over for a place on my list of favorite books), and some pleasure reading. And I'll go to 'Toine's and check out what Nintendo Wii is like! And then I'll go to mass!

* I don't know why I'm still watching Studio 60. Really, I hate it. A lot. Why do I hate it? Mostly because a lot of the themes it takes to be dramatic are ripped from The West Wing, and frankly, they work a lot better there. Would the public at large care if people working inside of the White House directly underneath the president had were sleeping with hookers, or suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder? Yes, probably. Would people give a shit if a minor executive for a television broadcasting company went to some questionable clubs or got a D.U.I.? NO, THEY WOULDN'T! Also, tense situations work a lot better in the White House. I mean, they're governing an entire nation, and their decisions affect everyone in the world. On Studio 60? The absolute worse thing that could happen would be the airing of the show somehow getting messed up. Sorry, but I just can't bring myself to care a flying flip.
A couple of weeks ago, there was a storyline in which Tom (Nate Cordry)'s parents came to visit him (an actor on the show) on the set. He makes references to famous comedy all night long, which his parents know nothing about. This culminates in a scene where Tom is talking about some famous comedy duo, saying, "Come on, you guys know what I'm talking about!" In a halting shout, his father retorts, "That's fine, Tom! But your brother - he's in the middle of Afghanistan right now!" WTF!!! It was one of the biggest WTF moments I've ever had watching TV. I think Sorkin was trying to show a DISCONNECT between the parents and the son, because the son is a misunderstood artist and his parents don't realize his brilliance (given the next paragraph I'm about to write, I'd LOVE to know if Sorkin had the same problems with HIS parents!). But what does their son serving in the military have ANYTHING to do with not being in-touch with American culture enough to know famous comedy? I don't know.
Allow me to direct you to a post by Eric Burns at Websnark. Originally, I had quoted things from it in this post, but then I just copied nearly the entire article. It really would just be easier for you to read it yourself. Just know that it's getting sickening how much Aaron Sorkin makes self-references in this show. The more I watch, the more I think that he's a pretentious jackass.

**Yeah, I'm pretty sure that I cried no less than THREE TIMES watching Grey's Anatomy. I'm not a huge fan of Cristina/Burke, but I've got to say it's fun watching Cristina go all Lady Macbeth for him. The more I watch Chandra Wilson (Dr. Bailey), the more I think she really sucks at acting. I liked her better in the first season. Izzie is once again my favorite character, much like she was for the first 1.5 seasons. I personally felt that the whole Denny storyline was lame, and I've just been waiting for her to get over it, which I think is starting to happen. My ideal couple on this show has always been Izzie and George (OMG, I love that he is now by far the most mature intern - can you remember what he was like in season one, all bumbling and insecure? Oh, the change!), but I think that if they ever go there, it'll take a long time. Callie isn't good enough for George (SLOAN?! Seriously?), but Alex Karev has been such a gentleman lately that I wouldn't mind terribly if he won Izzie over. As for Meredith and McDreamy? Yawwwwn.

A Really Long Post for Dave to Read at Work Tomorrow

YES, THIS IS THE LONGEST POST EVER and I don't care. Because these are the thoughts that I have wanted to blog in small, daily entries since like, Thursday, but haven't had time to do. So, you get them all at once. So sorry, so sad, too bad!

On Friday, I ended up skipping the "Book Fashion" show I had mentioned a few entries ago. I sat looking at my messy room, thinking about all of the cleaning and homework that I had to do, and opted not to go. Instead, I laid face down in my bed and woke up disoriented around 7:00, obviously having got nothing done. I freaked out trying to put together this Battlestar Galactica episode that I had found on the Internet, but it was broken in to 18 different .rar files that I could not get put back together. Luckily, Antoine came to my rescue by being able to transfer a different version right on to my computer. So, some time, hopefully soon, I will finally get to watch BSG from the last two weeks! It was basically a two-hour episode, though, so maybe it's actually good that I didn't have to wait a week between viewings.

Instead of loafing about all night, I rounded up Louise and Creighton in my car, and we went over to Antoine's to watch "Brick" with him and his friend Erik. It was such a good movie! I can't recommend it enough. If you're looking to rent a good movie, you should definitely rent this one. The dialogue was excellent and intelligent. It's basically a crime syndicate mystery movie, except that all of the characters are in high school, which makes for some pretty hilarious scenes. Here is some dialogue for you to enjoy:
Laura: [On the phone with Brendan] Who is this?
Brendan Frye: I won't waste your time: you don't know me.
Laura: I know everyone, and I have all the time in the world.
Brendan Frye: Ah, the folly of youth.

Brad Bramish: Oh yeah?
Brendan Frye: Yeah.
Brad Bramish: Oh yeah?
Brendan Frye: Yeah.
Brad Bramish: Yeah?
Brendan Frye: There's a thesaurus in the library. Yeah is under "Y". Go ahead, I'll wait.

Saturday as a whole was pretty intense. I woke up early after staying up late (see: my last post. I will post more coherently about it at a future time, but basically: various organizations in the University got together and came up with a bunch of heinous rules that Student Orgs have to follow on both Friday and Saturday night of the coming week, due to the rioting/silliness that occurs on State Street from Halloween celebrations. So basically, for providing a non-alcoholic alternative of harmless people watching Japanese cartoons on a big screen, we got screwed. As infurirating as that is, I was even more pissed that they waited until 10:30 pm on Friday to bother to email me and inform me of their heinous rules), and went to the Farmer's Market at Capitol Square and purchased scones and vegetables and cheese. Then, I went to the Ghost Hunter panel that was part of the Wisconsin Book Festival (I'll be blogging about all three of the events I went to, and put them together - either on here or in my LiveJournal - for you to read).

After THAT....I went to Memorial Library from 12:30-4:30 and did homework the entire time (except when I went up to the 6th floor and found 7 books of ghost stories to check out), until going to Anime Club. Despite the fact that we got inexplicably screwed out of our normal room this week, Club went nicely. We watched the first 4 episodes of Rose of Versailles, and I absolutely loved it. What can I say, I've got a thing for women who dress like men and kick ass. Also, the series takes place before and during the French Revolution, so people like Marie Antoinette get to be main characters, which is kind of kickass.

After that, I went to Antoine's. We watched the last episode of Honey & Clover, and I totally cried. I'm such a whore. Today, I was finally showered at like, 1:30 pm. Did I do homework? No. I have a lot of cleaning that needs to get done, as well as readings that need to be caught up on. As well as Battlestar to be watched! But I'm sick of not doing fun things in favor of homework, so after a bit of angsting, I went through with my plan to go see Neil Gaiman (and Peter Straub, and some other dude) and the Orpheum Theatre, and I'm really glad I went.

Kristen and I ate dinner at Real Chili (she was with me at the Neil Gaiman thing), and now I'm at Memorial Library. It was pretty hilarious because I stopped in the restroom before the Info Lab, and upon entering, I couldn't find her. I circled the room and finally sat down in a chair in the back corner. Being the genius that I am, I decided to email her and tell her where I was. 5 minutes later, she stood up, and both of us realized she was just on the opposite row that I was, sitting about two seats kitty-corner to me. She is now sitting right next to me, and we are chatting on AIM and pretending that we're not in the same room. Oh, Internets. Endless amusement.

Creighton and Antoine both got me into this online comic called "xkcd" that is a lot of fun. I find the writer to be both hilarious and intelligent. Anyway, his latest comic makes a perfect illustration of what happens when a group of friends go to the movies! It's like, an exact diagram of middle school and high school. Even a couple months ago, right before Antoine and I started dating and before we were both like, "Dude, I like you!" "OMF, me too!", we went to Snakes on a Plane with our friends. Somehow, Gordon and Steph got between Antoine and I. And I was like, WTF, noes. So I made them get up and let me sit by Antoine. I think I said it was "so that it would be easier to pass the popcorn" (Steph and Gordon were sharing their own bucket for dinner, while the other 6 of us shared a bucket). I don't stand for shit that is not socially optimal! At least, not for me. :D

If any of you guys are fans of NBC's show "The Office," you should read Pam's (or, really, the actress who plays her - yes, it's really her!) blog! It's right here. I think it's the only thing I read on MySpace. Her entries are so funny, though! She has good insights into her character, and why Pam and Jim didn't speak to each other for so long, and etc. Plus, her latest entry has commentary about her favorite new stapler. Heehee.

Grey's Anatomy fangirls have been going crazy the last couple of days because of wild rumors on the Internet. The rumor is that actor Isaiah Washington (Dr. Preston Burke) got in a fight with actor Patrick Dempsey (Dr. Derek Shepherd/McDreamy). According to the rumor, Washington grabbed Dempsey by the throat, saying, "I'm not your little faggot like (name deleted)." THEN, actor T.R. Knight (Intern Dr. George O'Malley) just released a statement through People or something confirming that he is, in fact, gay.
Fangirls: OMG, McDreamy was defending George's honor!
Then, with Burke's current storyline, people are speculating that his character will be written off of the show. :O

And lastly, a pointless post from a Battlestar Galactica community that Ryan will enjoy very much. I hope you're having fun in Green Bay, Ryan!

Skidboot is my new favorite dog. I MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE ALMOST CRIED.
