My blog has not been cracktastic of late. I aim to fix that.

I think I saw this meme from and

List 10 whatever # feels like of your favorite characters from different fandoms, and ask people to spot patterns in your choices, and if they're so inclined, to draw conclusions about you based on the patterns they've spotted.

Angel -- Wesley Wyndam-Pryce
Buffy -- Buffy Summers
Veronica Mars -- Veronica Mars, Logan Echolls
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles -- EVERYONE
The West Wing -- Joshua Lyman
Lord of the Rings -- Frodo
Neon Genesis Evangelion -- Asuka Langley Sohryu, Misato Katsuragi
Harry Potter -- Harry
Final Fantasy VII -- Tifa Lockhart
Honey & Clover -- Ayumi Yamada
How I Met Your Mother -- Robin Sparkles Scherbatsky
Avatar: The Last Airbender -- Katara, until she sucked; then Toph
Revolutionary Girl Utena -- Utena Tenjou, Juri Arisagawa
Final Fantasy Tactics -- Agrias [one time there was a favorite character meme and guessed that Agrias was my favorite from this game, and I was like, no! But then I realized SHE WAS TOTALLY RIGHT.], Ramza, Alma
Star Wars Expanded Universe -- Jaina Solo, Tenel Ka [keep in mind that I'm about a decade behind in these books]
Sailor Moon -- Rei Hino (Sailor Mars)
Black Lagoon - Revy

My vote: I'm pretty sure almost all of them suffer from PTSD. I don't, so I'm not sure what this says about me.
I guess a lot of them also can't be with the person they love. Merp-merrr.

All I want for Christmas is a more manageable LiveJournal FL

Last night I learned an important skill in Vagrant Story. Ashley can jump higher when his sword and shield are unequipped. Of course, this makes sense in theory, but I am not used to the physics of video games making any practical sense. Anyway, I crawled out of the dark chain of dungeons and blinked into daylight inside Lea Monde.
Are all of the girls in this game useless? I want Ashley's partner to kick some arse.
What's up with his name being Ashley, anyway? Ashley Riot has a nice ring to it, but all I can think of is Ashley Wilkes, which is not the same at all.

A random question: So the information on my map says that the map is 13% complete. Does this mean that I am 13% of the way through the game?

I need to do a much better job of checking my Facebook event invitations. I tend to ignore Facebook for the most part, but I totally missed the invitation to Casbah to celebrate a friend's birthday.

AND NOW A MEME ON LJ.

This is another reminder that people planning on buying me gifts should PLEASE TELL ME so I can enter you in to my neat Excel spreadsheet.

Book Meme. I'm ignoring manga for the purposes of this meme.

Meme taken from Megan B Moore.

1. Favourite Book? I don't know how to answer this question, but I can provide the list I have on Facebook, :D
The Blind Assassin, White Teeth, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, China Mountain Zhang, Snow Crash, Princess Academy, The Stand, Lincoln's Melancholy, The Bell Jar, Fight Club, Invisible Monsters, Lullaby, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Gone With the Wind, To Kill A Mockingbird, Les Miserables, Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, Fahrenheit 451, The Golden Compass, Caddie Woodlawn, The Scarlet Letter, Neverwhere

2. Favourite Author? Chuck Palahniuk, Nathaniel Hawthorne, the Bronte sisters, Jane Austen, Neil Gaiman, and I guess all the people who wrote my favorite books

3. Favourite Genre? Science fiction or general fiction. I tend to loathe fantasy.

4. Favourite series of books? Little House on the Prairie, Animorphs, Tales of the Otori, Harry Potter, The Dark Tower, Lord of the Rings, Redwall (in order of publication before The Outcast of Redwall)

5. Favourite Illustrator? Garth Williams? And the lady who illustrated Harry Potter.

6. Favourite book from when you were little? *cough* those are still current favorites....Little House on the Prairie, Gone With the Wind, Redwall, Lucasfilm's Alien Chronicles

7. Favourite Hero? Most of my heroes come from real life, TV shows, or anime. But I guess Laura Ingalls Wilder has been my favorite hero since an impressionable age.

8. Favourite Villain? None, I hated villains, and I hated when the storyline went to them in novels.

9. Favourite couple? Rhett/Scarlett. I tend to not care for romances in books. TV, movies, and anime, it's okay. Books = meh.

10. Favourite Character? The protagonists from all my favorite books?

5 Lasts

1. Last book you bought? Huh. Latest actual purchase was The Prophecy by K.A. Applegate for $1. It's an Animorphs book.

2. Last book you were given? I just got the second volume of Celestial Legend Ceres through BookMooch.

3. Last book you pre-ordered? I don't pre-order books. I usually don't even buy books new, unless they're manga.

4. Last book you loved? Octavia Butler's Dawn was okay (didn't like Adulthood Rites; about to start the third one). I can't remember everything I've read recently, so I'll go with The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood

5. Last book you hated? Yeah, I really didn't care for Butler's Adulthood Rites. I'll probably blog about the trilogy before Book Club meets.

3 dos

1.Do you read part of your current book every day? Yes. I usually have multiple current books.

2. Do you stick to one genre of books or do you jump around? No, I try to jump around. I guess my main-stays are general fiction and science fiction, though.

3. Do you review all the books you read on LJ? No, but I try to keep my booklog updated (it is woefully NOT at the moment, so I won't link to it!)

1 If
1. If you were stuck on a desert island and could only take one book with you, which book would you choose?
The Bible.

Clearing out my tabs

The end of the fifth episode of Veronica Mars is when I officially fell in love with the show. I didn't see it coming at all, and it was just....wow.

I just finished episode 9, and am still loving things.

Tagged by Bethany.

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 56.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next seven sentences in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
6. Tag five other people to do the same.

But howsomever thou pursues this act,
Taint not thy mind, nor let thy soul contrive
Against thy mother aught. Leave her to heaven,
And to those thorns that in her bosom lodge
To prick and sting her. Fare thee well at once!
The glow-worm shows the matin to be near,
And gins to pale his uneffectual fire.
Adieu, adieu, adieu! remember me.

Ham. O all you host of heaven!

Tagging people?! Does it work? We'll see. I tag [LiveJournal people]. And if you already did the meme and I didn't remember, well....I just suck at life.

My package from Johanna arrived. A DVD of Millennium Actress, a high-quality anime movie! Buying stuff from Johanna is awesome because she sticks other goodies in the packaging. When I bought Escaflowne, there was an amazing CLAMP notebook, with pictures of Kamui, Fuma, Sakura, and Syaoran. There is more Sakura in this one, along with a cute paper with illustrations from the series Full Moon. Whee! I have some Satoshi Kon-spreading to do....Apparently, The Boyfriend has never seen Tokyo Godfathers or Millennium Actress! This is a travesty that must be corrected.

In the running for "most offensive headline award," one article about the recent suckage on Wall Street: "For Greenwich, 'This is our Katrina'"

I apparently lost the software disc for my mp3 player, which is unfortunate, as the program was erased from my computer when I reloaded Windows (twice). Without the software, the player won't even charge, let alone allow me to arrange and upload music to the device. I thought I found the place to get the software here, but every link I try on that page tells me something about needing a 64-bit connection or some such thing. I just want to listen to music in my car, ;_;

The amount of time I spend on the computer at work is dramatically increasing....

Firstly: Has anyone heard much about the new TV show called The Fringe? I just heard about it here, and it sounds pretty awesome. A sci-fi TV show, created by JJ Abrams, with Joshua Jackson in it? I'm in. WTF, I watch TV again now! I'm excited for this, Dollhouse, the return of The Office, and would like to catch up on Grey's and Battlestar Galactica (I think I now only have about 3 episodes left).

Speaking of TV....Last night I watched through episode 8 of the new season of Code Geass. Generally speaking, I like the first season a lot more, and find this one much less interesting so far. But I still love the gorgeous character designs enough to keep watching. I'd like to see how much rewatch value the first season has, because I loved it at the time.

Lastly, another meme! But this one is participatory!

Pick a fandom, and I'll tell you which character(s) I would
1. bake cupcakes for:
2. trust with the keys to my car (if I had a car):
3. put thumbtacks on their chair:
4. have a crush on:
5. pack up and leave if they moved next door:
6. vote for President:
7. pick as my partner in a buddy movie:
8. pair up:
9. vote off the island and into the volcano:
10. wheedle into fixing my MP3 player:

My favorite TV shows, anime shows, manga series, and video games can be found in my profile; books and stuff are on Facebook (or well-known?!). Someone ask me about Final Fantasy VII! DO IT.

MEMAGE

Anime meme from tigrin

1. Pick 10 of your favorite anime.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each anime.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the title once it's guessed.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions to answer!

1. There are no such things as miracles. (Revolutionary Girl Utena)

2. Survival of the fittest is the law of nature. We decieve or we are deceived. Thus, we flourish or perish. Nothing good ever happened to me when I trusted others. That is the lesson. (Cowboy Bebop)

3. The terrifying moldy bread incident! In elementary school, A's leftover bread started rotting inside her desk! You can't imagine what happened! Not only that, but the mold had a will of its own, it was terrible! Barricading ourselves in the science prep room, we used spirit lamps and engaged in combat! Then I realized it!! If we only had the bottle of mildew remover from the bathroom, we could destroy them!! (Azumanga Daioh)

4. Those who accept their fate find happiness; those who defy it, glory. (This is actually the series' tagline, I'm not sure if it's said in the series itself.) (Princess Tutu)

5. A: Hey, what's in the other refrigerator?
B: Oh, don't bother him! He's probably still sleeping!
(Neon Genesis Evangelion)

6. When I was certain he was going to kill me, my mind went blank, and I didn't have any hope anymore. All I could do was scream my lungs out. I felt so helpless, I couldn't even bring myself to believe someone might save me. And then you showed up, A, and I realized that if we don't take care of each other then no one else will. (Fullmetal Alchemist)

7. I meditate diligently every morning. The subject is Life and Love. I quit after three seconds. (Trigun)

8. A: He doesn't understand the meaning of "restraint."
B: Kiss my ass.
(Samurai Champloo)

9. What a terrible story. But appropriate for our world. Sometimes I feel like I'm walking over a giant pile of shit.

10. You might also add fear of horror movies, fear of ghost storytelling, fear of suddenly getting scared from behind, and fear of TV commercials about horror movies. What is it with those, anyway? I really do not like them airing those segments without any warnings. What's become of the rights of the cowards?

EDIT: Some answers have been guessed in the comments of my LiveJournal. SO. I'm not arbitrarily crossing things out and giving answers.
