I'm really glad everyone else is already asleep, and I'll be the first one awake tomorrow! Okay, so I've had a couple of my friends point out to me that in Wisconsin, it is already in the statutes that it is illegal for gay marriage to take place. I don't have time to put in the research that would be necessary, but I'm going to go ahead and believe it. Would the referendum on the ballot still have an effect? YES. Why? Because of the sentence, which reads a legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals shall not be valid or recognized in this state. This is definitely NOT the law right now, nor should it be - the second part effects all couples seeking a civil union (it's really vague language, but that's what everyone is assuming it means) will not be able to do so, whether they're gay or straight. The ban is being hyped up by conservatives as only being related to gay marriage (even though it's already a statute) to fire up what they assume to be their uninformed base, and get them to vote. I found this website today, which seems pretty non-partisan to me. It describes what's at stake in the Governor's race, Attorney General race, 8th Congressional District (Green Bay/etc.), U.S. Senate, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, and the two state referenda that are on the ballot. It also provides links to all of the candidates websites. So, if you feel a little uninformed about any of those races, I recommend checking it out. Anyway. What else? I was mildly productive today, but not as much as I had planned to be. There's clothing and school papers and remnants of Halloween and the Wisconsin Book Festival strewn all over my room. *sigh* If anyone's interested in an update on my endeavors to increase my cooking skills, I'll let you know: Now, in addition to being able to make couscous with sauteed vegetables (OMF, YUM), I can now also make pasta like spaghetti and tortellini. (Yes, I can boil water) I can also make potstickers! And by "make," I mean that I take them out of the freezer, put some water on them, and then stick them in the microwave for 2 minutes. But man, you add that Red Thai Curry Sauce, and you're good to go. Also: People's moms need to stop sending sweet things to our house! Seriously, I have no self-control and it's getting disgusting. I think I was better at refraining from eating cookies/candy/delicious bars today than I was yesterday, but I still ate way more than I should have. :/ Although we are now forced to watch Battlestar Galactica separately, Ryan and I confirmed our shared undying love for the same characters today (it keeps changing!). New loves include: Samuel T. Anders and Felix Gaeta, for their sheer amount of balls. Ryan always loved Colonel Tigh, but I now share his sentiment. We both use to love Lee "Apollo" Adama, but find him rather silly as of late. And that's all on the BSG front. LASTLY, I WROTE SOMETHING TODAY! FOR REALS! Yes. I'm trying this NanoWrimo thing, but I'm not going to feel bad about it when I can't do it because I have to study/write papers/DIE. But anyway, I wrote a little over 1,000 words tonight. It's pure crap. But I wrote fiction, which I haven't done in....wow, I don't even know how long it's been any more. Many months. What the hell. Here's the new stuff from tonight. But I'm picking up literally exactly where I left off in the Ghost Hunters story, so I suggest going to the main page and using the navigation on the sidebar. I put everything in order for you whores. Holy crap, I'm so looking forward to sleeping!! The end! By Meh. I find Helo less attractive with more hair (usually it's the other way around with me, wtf.). Also, in terms of characterization, he has yet to do anything to impress me this season. Or ever, really. I can think of like, two instances when I thought Helo was cool, and one of them was in the mini-series.
By Yay for NaNoWriMo writing. It is very fun to write fiction things. And 1,000 words is awesome. :)
