i read an entire book today. awesome.

Firstly, I would like to say thank you to everyone who has left comments here in this blog - Eunice also left a huge one in my LiveJournal. You guys are awesome. I really feel like this is the right decision. So, instead of writing about angstful things (which I could probably conjure without significant amounts of effort), I'll instead tell you why today was pretty awesome.
1) Geology lecture was very interesting today and I had no problem staying awake!
2) Geology Lab was very short and we got out about 20 minutes early.
3) The Geology TA revealed to Louise and I (after seeing Louise's shirt) that he likes Full Metal Alchemist.
4) The Geology TA told me that I looked like I could be in the movie Boondock Saints (My coat is black and goes down to my knees and is awesome). This made me feel awesome because the Boondock Saints are awesome. If you haven't seen that movie, then you should!
5) Reading everybody's comments made me feel all glowy and melty inside. You all rock!
6) The package from my mom/Chad's mom came today, which included my cellphone charger and stuff that Chad had forgotten. His mom also sent along this box full of frosted cookies and chocolate and stuff that said "Be nice and share!" The cookie was so good! But Chad took the box back to his place for when we go there tomorrow night, the bastard. This is probably good, though, as I would have eaten an unnecessary amount of sweets this afternoon, :)
7) Tonight was ice cream night in Liz Dining Hall!
8) OMGWTF tonight was the "Willy Wonka Dinner!" Too bad chocolate isn't good for you....I need to start counting points again, ;_; For real. ;_;
9) We watched 'Alien' in SciFi Club.
10) It's only a RUMOR so far, but....some sites have cropped up the notion that the reason that the DVD release of Advent Children got pushed back to January 10 is because of a possible theatrical release?! I'm waiting for official word, but....that would own.
11) Stephen King is writing a Dark Tower comic through Marvel. I need to actually read this story. You know, when I have time to read.
12) Advent Children Captain Planet parody
13)

My blog is worth $5,080.86.
How much is your blog worth?

14) I think this can stand by itself without comment: "I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city," Robertson said on his daily television show broadcast from Virginia, "The 700 Club."

"And don't wonder why He hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for His help because he might not be there," he said.

I'm going to start a list of things that I'm dying to change in my story once November is over. Why not change them now? Because I don't have the time (behind schedule as it is) and it would eff up the word count.

I hate writing in dialogue attribution. For example, if only two people are talking, it is entirely unnecessary to write "He said," "She said," after every phrase. Even if more than two people are speaking, it is still usually not necessary to have to explicitly clarify who's talking. Your readers should know your characters well enough to know who's talking in most situations. I also hate coming up with variations of "said." Cried, shouted, grunted, ejaculated, yelled, screamed, hissed. Bleh.
Also, I want to take out the ADVERBS. Holy shit. I hate adverbs. Maybe it stems from my love affair with Stephen King's book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, maybe not. All I know is that I hate them. When I use them in writing, it makes me mentally shout, "Jackie, I can't believe you just did that! Terrible!" Adverbs are unnecessary.
I would INSERT my voice. I think there are about two passages thus far in which I can read what I wrote and say to myself, "Now that sounds like my style." Ideally, the entire story would make me say that to myself. Because, you know, I wrote it.
More fragmented sentences. I love fragmented sentences. You don't always need subjects in sentences, and occasionally, it can be a good stylistic device. Particularly when characters are going insane. I did get to do this in one scene so far: i am such a piece of shit for letting you think that, i am such a
blood, it’s running down now. down, down, trickling down, pooling now. pooling here on the floor here next to me, look, that’s me!

My story still has no plot, but I take heart in the words from Stephen King: Plot is a far bigger tool, the writer's jackhammer. you can liberate a fossil from hard ground with a jackhammer, no argument there, but you know as well as I do that the jackhammer is going to break almost as much stuff as it liberates. It's clumsy, mechanical, anticreative. Plot is, I think, the good writer's last resort and the dullard's first choice. The story which results from it is apt to feel artificial and labored.

I posted my football ticket to sell at exchangehut.com, but it isn't going. :/ The game is Saturday and I need to sell this ticket! Well I guess I could go to the game...But I'd rather get the $75.

Definitely going to hate myself when I have to get up at 7:00 tomorrow morning. Shits.

Be like Ibsen--write your characters first!! ;)

If you can't tell, I have College-Credit English on the brain. Speaking of which, I wanted to say that I have always thought that you are an amazing writer, and from an outsider's perspective, I think English would be a wonderful major for you. :D

Hope everything's going well for you!
